Learn Earn Legend -Fail

   New Minister Mike Arbib's statement "Aboriginals need to get out of bed" is the typical view,apparently from the vantage point atop a substantial pile of taxpayers dollars. It is the typical racist redneck rant which blames aboriginal people for the "predicament" we are in. It also makes the stereotypical assumption that aboriginals lie in bed all day, along with the attendant derogatory snapshots.

 Senator Mark Arbib would do well to ensure that his and Jenny Macklin's pre-election aboriginal stunt 100 "Best and Brightest" under the banner Learn,Earn,Legend fulfils the promises made to those starry eyed aboriginal students. Several have reported being given the runaround as to why the department could no longer fulfil training assistance promises made in the course of that sojourn. Staff have left -and the usual litany of excuses have been trotted out in response to followup inquiries from the 6 students who have contacted us. We're tweeting this to @SenMarkArbib   and awaiting his response... prior to publishing first hand accounts from some of the Students who attended

GenerationOne ::The Invasion Continues

 All the goodwill in the world or cynical colonialism? A whos who of those who have benefited magnificently from the Poverty and Marginalisation Industries have lined up behind new found pin-up boy Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest of Fortescue Metals fame to once again save aborigines - or maybe make a few more millions using the name of aboriginal people.

 GenerationOne has all the hallmarks of the type of manna organisations like serial preyers Mission Australia and Exodus Foundation - and their State and Federal government collaborators crave. At a time when aboriginal people are awakening to the equity gap -and the unjust government floated notion that in order to obtain equity, we must slave in "jobs" to "earn" what Australia's colonist forebears took for nothing - GenerationOne offer jobs. A quick scan of their website show not empowering jobs, but dead end training "opportunities" and menial wageslavery positions. These, along with the $4 per hour Work for the Dole opportunities currently being forced on aboriginal dole recipients carrying out essential services in the Northern Territory are GenerationOne 's Pathway to aboriginal empowerment.

 GenerationOne people both aboriginal and non-indigenous government and Non-government and their industry supporters need to take a look at themselves. The rest of Australia need to take a closer look at what these people and organisations will get in increased revenues. If the return to the helpers is greater than the benefit to the wider aboriginal community, as I suspect is the case, then aboriginal people are once again being cynically offered up as revenue collection tokens in a game which enriches the advisors while continuing the disenfranchisement of our aboriginal peoples and communities

Aboriginal v The Rest: The Widening Gap

   Despite the government sourced mainstream media generated hyperbole, if the gap were an asyss in the recent colonial past then today its as wide as the Tasman Sea. Whether in reaction to government bullying coercion and child theft,or for self perceived economic or social reasons,aboriginal people attempt to engage with and understand the Colonial English culture which masquerades as Australian.Irrespective of their academic success most aboriginal people wait in vain for the benefits to kick in.Invariably,they are relegated to subordinance in terms of self worth,relative to "other ethnicities".This gap is widest when the comparison is aboriginal vs anglo.

  The gap between aboriginal control and Colonial control is widening.Whereas until the 1990s aboriginal peoples had only had control of their resources, human rights culture and political autonomy usurped, todays aboriginal people face the decimation of their communities and dissipation of their families by bi-partisan government forces dedicated to the eradication of all aboriginal control-even over our children.

  But the gap is widest when the comparison is between aboriginal people acquiring non traditional "skills" and learning about "other ethnic" and "invader" cultures in Australia and "Other Australians" acquiring aboriginal based learning. Learning the rich tapestry of traditions of aboriginal lore,the oldest continuously existing culture known to humankind. Surprisingly, measured in terms of learning, aboriginal people are way out in front in relative cultural learning, with most having acquired at least rudimentary knowledge of "non-aboriginal" and especially colonist english culture. In stark contrast non-aboriginal learning of any aboriginal culture from traditional sources is virtually non existent.

 While many engage in "aboriginal studies" via non-aboriginal institutions, they, including many aboriginals who do so, will at best come away with a non aboriginal perspective of aboriginal people and culture gleaned in sterile isolation, sourced from documents and books and out of synchronicity with the places and people in which that particular culture belongs.

My line in the Sand

There seems to be some angst among some of my mainly non-indigenous followers who view some of my posts as perhaps anti-white.So lets get specific.

 The laws of Colony Australia were written to benefit Anglo's.Their laws enshrine and protect their often questionable values,over all other cultures.Paradoxically these laws repress aboriginal people culture values and aspiration most -and progressively according roughly to shades of colour and adherence to ones ethnic cultural values (or otherwise).Or,simply, "The Whiter You Are,The Righter You Are."

 Those who actively promote adherence to the anglo laws which persecute aboriginal people ( all current Australian Laws do),I despise,wouldn't piss on if they were on fire and I was busting for a piss-and I include some people with solely aboriginal heritage in this list.

 At the other end of the scale are people whom I would happily die for -people who uphold the view of Equity Equality as a starting point for discussion with any other parties by aboriginal people.People who reject the assimilated group selected by Labor to represent aboriginals in discussions about our future,because they are more representative of Anglo-rebadged-as-Australian than of aboriginal people.People who reject the notion of aboriginal equality existing in Australia today,or at any point post 1788. People who actively commit to ending the repression not only of our aboriginal peoples but of the other ethnicities repressed by Anglos-masquerading-as-Australian.People who also commit to ending the wanton and irreversible destruction of our land our oceans and our rivers whose vitality is being milked for the short term gain of a few billionaire capitalists and their Exploitative Merchant Equity partners.Some of these people have 100% Anglo ancestry in fact there are even some who have never left the shores of England...
 Thats my line in the sand....
